Samsung recently took the wraps off of a new smartphone in its Galaxy M series. The upcoming device is expected to be launched in India on April 22 and will come with a 120Hz Super AMOLED Plus display and a 5000mAh battery.
While there’s no confirmation on the pricing of the upcoming M-series phone, it is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 35,000 and Rs 40,000. Moreover, it will likely be available in two colour variants.
1. 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display
The Samsung Galaxy M53 features a dominant 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display that delivers rich, full-screen visuals. The 120Hz refresh rate ensures peak performance without lagging or stuttering, so you can multitask seamlessly and enjoy smoother browsing, streaming, and gaming.
AMOLED displays are also a power-efficient option, with low power consumption and short response times. These are useful for portable electronics, such as smartphones.
The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen featured in the Samsung Galaxy M53 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Its 20:9 aspect ratio and 393 PPI pixel density make it a great choice for viewing photos, videos, and text.
2. MediaTek’s SoC Dimensity 900
As a new addition to Samsung’s M series, the Galaxy M53 features a 108MP primary camera and a MediaTek SoC Dimensity 900. The SoC is a 6nm chip that offers two Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz, and it integrates with a 5G modem with carrier aggregation.
The SoC is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and a 128GB internal storage option. The phone also supports 25W fast charging and a 5000mAh battery that can last up to a day.
MediaTek’s SoC Dimensity 900 is a 6nm processor that offers optimized speed for unmatched performance. It enables smooth multitasking between apps and can power console-level games efficiently.
3. Quad-camera setup
Handset makers are constantly looking for new ways to improve the camera experience of their smartphones. One such trend is to stack multiple camera sensors at the back of the device.
The Samsung Galaxy M53 is no exception to this trend. It features a quad-camera setup headlined by a 108MP primary sensor with Nona-binning technology. The phone also comes with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP depth camera, and a 32MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
The main 108MP sensor was capable of clicking fairly detailed images in daylight conditions. However, the 2MP depth sensor was a little weaker than expected.
4. 5,000mAh battery
The Galaxy M53 5G sports a massive 5,000mAh battery, which is enough to last a day of usage. This includes light to moderate gaming, social media apps and Wi-Fi usage.
The battery is also compatible with 25W fast charging, which limits the time required to recharge. Unfortunately, the device does not come bundled with a charger, so consumers have to buy it separately.
The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is a solid option for those looking for a smartphone with an impressive display, strong processor, and a great camera. However, it is missing out on a few features that could help it stand out from the competition. These include faster-charging speeds, a better camera, and an OS upgrade promise.
5. Android One UI 5.0
Samsung has begun rolling out Android 13-based One UI 5.0 updates to select Galaxy M series devices. This latest software skin comes with a host of new features and visual improvements, including revamped UI elements and tons of privacy features.
For starters, One UI 5.0 introduces a new Privacy and Security dashboard similar to Google’s. It offers a quick look at your smartphone’s security status and recommends ways to further improve it.
Additionally, One UI 5.0 also adds stackable widgets that allow you to combine multiple widgets on your home screen. This is great news for those who want to keep their phone’s home screen clean and clutter-free.
In addition to these new features, the update also brings various visual tweaks to the Camera app. These include a Picture watermark feature, Historogram, improved Single Take and Food mode, and more.
