1 More ColorBuds 2 Reviews

1More has done a lot to differentiate itself in the sub $100 earbuds market. With the ColorBuds 2 it's offering a lot of features usually reserved for more expensive models, and bringing them to a price that makes them an appealing option for casual listeners.

The ColorBuds 2 feature a personalized sound, thanks to the company's SoundID technology. This takes only a minute to set up, and allows you to hear your music, podcasts or audiobooks the way it was meant to be heard.

Specs

If you're looking for a set of affordable True Wireless earbuds with active noise cancelling (ANC) and sound that can be personalized, the 1 more ColorBuds 2 should be at the top of your list. They're comfortable, have a lot of features, and offer aptX Bluetooth codec support.

They're also quite durable. The ear buds are IPX5 waterproof, which means they're resistant to rain and sweat.

These earbuds also come with short ear tips that fit well inside your ears and are snugly in place. They have a rounded shape and don't stick out too far from your ear, making them a good choice for running or workouts.

Onboard controls include double-tapping for playing/pause, triple-tapping for activating your phone's assistant, and a long press on either bud for switching between ANC and passthrough mode. In addition, there's a smart playback feature that automatically pauses audio when you remove a bud from your ear and resumes it when you put it back in.

Design

The ColorBuds 2 have an unusual shape, but it’s one that works for them. They fit very comfortably, thanks to the rounded design and light weight of the earpieces.

The earbuds are small enough to tuck into the nooks and crannies of your ear without too much trouble, even with large ears. And a small, soft charging case (which looks like an egg) will keep them powered up for long periods of time.

The most impressive feature is the SoundID - the ColorBuds 2's equivalent of an equalizer, which you can use in conjunction with the ColorBuds app to generate a personalized audio profile for each song fragment. The EQ isn't overdone, so it can deliver some rumble in the bass without drowning out the rest of the midrange or high-end.

Sound

The ColorBuds 2 look pretty snazzy on paper, with Bluetooth 5.2, aptX Bluetooth codec support, active noise cancellation and a long list of features. They're also small, lightweight and IPX5-rated for splash and sweat resistance.

The sound quality is solid, balancing low-end bass, clear midranges and high frequencies with an impressive soundstage. However, there's a bit of an issue with the mid-range frequency range that makes some songs sound a little clinical and distant.

1More has teamed up with SonarWorks to offer SoundID, a new feature that combines the specific acoustic characteristics of the ColorBuds 2 with your personal hearing preferences. To use it, simply go through a series of A/B comparisons in the 1More app and select your favorite option from each set. The app then builds your personalized audio profile and applies it to everything you listen to on the ColorBuds 2.

Comfort

Comfort is a key part of a pair of earbuds and the ColorBuds 2 do an excellent job in this area. The rounded shape of the buds and short ear tips make them easy to insert into your ears and the fit is very stable.

The buds themselves also have cVc 8.0 noise cancelling technology that can reduce some ambient sounds while you listen. They aren't quite as good as a true wireless earbud with noise cancelling like the Apple AirPods Pro, but they do a decent job at blocking some unwanted sounds.

The headphones offer a great sound right out of the box and can be fine tuned using their companion app's graphic EQ. They're also compatible with Sony's LDAC audio codec, which means you can listen to high-resolution music over Bluetooth.
