Google Pixel Buds B-Series Review

What is the Pixel Buds B-Series?

The Google Pixel Buds B-Series is a pair of Bluetooth earbuds powered by Google's Android operating system. Each of the earbuds features a three-microphone setup that works to actively filter out unwanted noise as you go along. The earbuds are also pretty comfortable to wear for long periods of time thanks to their silicon tips. They're also a bit lightweight, weighing in at just 4.3g.

The earbuds have an impressive number of features, including a Siri-like voice assistant that can make calls, ask queries and control smart home devices. They're also the first earbuds to support Dolby Atmos, which is the triumvirate of audio technology that delivers virtual 360-degree sound. The most impressive thing about the earbuds is their battery life - they're capable of up to five hours of music playback before needing a charge, which is good news if you're going for a run or an outdoor workout.

What is the Pixel Buds C-Series?

If you’re looking for an entry-level pair of wireless earbuds that offer good value for money, the Pixel Buds C-Series are a great option. The buds are available in the UK for a relatively reasonable £79 and have many of the features you’d expect from a pair at this price point.

The earbuds themselves are fairly well made with the main bud sitting nicely in your ears and a silicone tip to provide comfort for long periods of listening. The stems are quite secure too and don’t fall out of my ears – although some people may prefer a more closed fit in which case the design won’t work for them.

Sound wise, the earbuds deliver a very crisp and clean audio experience that doesn’t favour either bass or treble too much. That means you get the best possible balance between music and voices, so it’s a good choice for listening to lighter melodies and lifting voices out of the mix.

OnePlus has also tried to add a little bit of extra functionality in the form of a touchpad on the buds themselves, which lets you control things like play/pause, forward and back track, and pause if you pull one out to see what’s being said around you. It works well and it’s a much more positive method than the swipes used by most other earbuds on the market. However, it’s important to note that unless you have a new OnePlus phone or some kind of firmware update you can’t change these settings on the fly.
